Moving Towards Net Zero

TOA Paint (Thailand) Public Company Limited has not just focusing on a wealth corporate operation only but also has been conscious of the need of return to society and environment with a strong emphasis on advancement of sustainability in society and environment across all dimensions; to build a community where is safe, livable, and joyful. TOA have settled a goal of becoming a Net Zero emissions organization by 2050. This is to ensure that TOA is strongly committed to acting for social and environmental sustainability and is helping to lessen the effects of environmental devastation. According to the framework of National Energy Plan which aims to promote clean energy and move Thailand towards a carbon neutrality in year 2065 - 2070, in accordance with The Paris Agreement that is aimed to responsible for climate change by keeping a global temperature below 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels and to pursue efforts to limit the temperature increase even further to 1.5 degrees Celsius. In order to limit to 1.5 degrees Celsius, the net carbon dioxide must be reduced to be zero during year 2044 and 2052, and the total greenhouse gas emissions must be zero during year 2063 and 2068.

TOA Net Zero approach

TOA strategy focuses on reducing greenhouse gas emissions in internal operations to be zero and activities for greenhouse gas absorption as follows.

1. Activities to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
   • To implement the procedures and protocols to reduce electricity consumption, for example the installation of solar roof project, the pneumatic system improvement in the factory, and the harmonic distortion reduction project in electronic equipment, etc.
     
     

     

     

   • Measures to reduce the use of fossil fuels in factories; the reduction of diesel fuel consumption in internal transportation system and the manufacturing process improvement to reduce the use of fuel oil.
   • Measures to reduce consumption of refrigerant used in air conditioning system as well as the change of type of refrigerant.
   • Measures to improve and/or modify machinery or equipment in production process using advanced solution and technology to maximize production capacity and minimize the consumption of resources.
2. Activities for greenhouse gas absorption and for a carbon credit collection i.e., reforestation and plantation.
